Unique to the Caribbean, the British Virgin Islands is a melting pot of people that are native to the BVI, down islanders; those transplanted from other Caribbean Islands, and expatriates, from countries all over the world. Keep in mind that only twenty percent of the population of the British Virgin Islands is actually born here in the BVI.

The diverse population therefore relates the different styles of Art and Photography that is so well done in the islands. The British Virgin Islands is one of the best venues for an artist to take all of natures little secrets and transform them onto canvas, pottery, print, and computer graphics.

All of the artwork created in the British Virgin Islands has its own roots and critics feel that some of the best artwork in the Caribbean is produced here for many reasons, one being such a well blend of all the different cultures found in the BVI.

The BVI artists attend shows and galleries all through the Caribbean and the United States. The London based BVI Tourist Board also has local art on display at their office from time to time. Throughout the BVI are galleries, small and large by island standards, with all types of displays. Also during the year several shows are sponsored annually, territory-wide.

The government and the people are very proud of their culture which is portrayed in the different artworks of the very talented artists who make the British Virgin Islands their home. While visiting the British Virgin Islands, take the time to browse the local galleries and take in some of the BVI flavour.
